"A Very Romantic Wedding Location For Those Who Love The Arts", An Eventective User from San Francisco, California
If you are looking to have an elegant wedding in an exquisite setting, look no farther than the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. This building has hosted many weddings and formal events for decades. The facility was built in 1917 which has gorgeous marble floors, columned staircases and beautifully carved archways. From a pricing perspective, the Asian Art Museum can be rented for $6,500 to $20,000 depending on the size of the reception. Your wedding can be hosted indoor or outdoor, whichever you prefer. The Asian Art Museum can seat up to four hundred seated guests indoors.

For my wedding, we rented Samsung Hall. The decor was timeless and the room's decor was breathtaking. We worked with a wedding coordinator to provide the white linen tables, flowers and lighting. The caterer designed a five course meal which was highlighted by a three tier chocolate wedding cake. The food was out of this world. Our guests loved the options of filet mignon with stuffed crabmeat as well as a vegetarian entree for those who abstain from meat dishes.
Weddings can be held on any day from 5:15 PM to 1 A.M. except Thursdays. One will have to coordinate and bring alcoholic beverages to the wedding. This was cheaper than having an open bar and having a flat charge for the wedding reception.

The facilities amenities were outstanding. The Asian Art Museum provided valet parking. If one didn't want to valet, a public parking lot was available within a few blocks. The facility provides handicapped access to those patrons who have disabilities.

The Asian Art Museum is a wonderful venue for a wedding in the San Francisco area. Call them today at (415) 581-3777 for more information.

"The Asian Art Museum: Beautiful Beaux-Arts Event Space", An Eventective User from San Francisco, CA
For my grandparents' fiftieth anniversary party, we used some of the facilities at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco for a night of dinner and dancing.

We rented the Samsung Hall and the adjacent Loggia, which are fairly large - it was ideal for our plans for appetizers (in the Loggia) and dinner and dancing (in Samsung Hall). We easily fit the band, tables and chairs for about a hundred people, and dance floor in the space. The building has just marvelous Beaux-Arts architecture - people came up the marble grand stairway to the main party spaces, which have marble walls, high ceilings, and attractive paned windows. (There's also a less attractive elevator available, so the space is accessible to people who can't use the stairs.) To be honest, we chose the space primarily because of the architecture, although the opportunity to view the galleries during the party was a pleasant bonus, and many of our guests did go through some of the museum during the course of the evening.

The space was pretty easy for us to use - we just went with the on-site caterer, who was very familiar with the space, so we didn't have to deal with any logistical problems - and all the prep went without a hitch. We were planning an evening event, so the abbreviated hours weren't a problem, but most of the large rooms aren't available until after 5 pm, which would put a crimp on daytime wedding plans.

The neighborhood itself isn't very attractive - there are many homeless people living just a few blocks away - but it's very close to BART and other transit options, which was important to us, and we could easily ignore the neighborhood.

Overall the facility rental staff at the Asian and their familiarity with all kinds of events made the planning easy and worry-free, and I would absolutely book their space again for an evening party or wedding, unless I thought that a large number of the guests would object to the neighborhood.
