I have a large family and when we were planning our wedding, it was very important to find a location that would be large enough for my family without being a location whose business focuses primarily on business conventioneers. The George Deukmejian Grand Ballroom seats up to 525 guests. It has a large parking lot on the premises where guests are not expected to pay for parking. While the Ballroom does not offer significant catering options of its own, it boasts a commercial size kitchen which was a particular draw for our family because it allowed for the possibility of my husband's father to cater our wedding. The venue offered us the option of placing a stage on the dance floor, which my husband jumped on. While it may seem silly, he had always imagined a particular Armenian singer to perform at his wedding. Not only were we able to book the band for our wedding, my husband got to sit in with the band on drums. Even with the stage erected, the dance floor was large enough so that at least half of our guests were up and dancing at one time. While there are really not enough good things I can say about the George Deukmejian Grand Ballroom, I've got to commend them on their policy of not forcing the conclusion of wedding parties at pre-determined times. One possible thing that some people might have issues with is the Ballroom's proximity to Ararat Home, which is a nursing facility for elderly Armenians. While we didn't have any issues, I know of one instance where an elderly lady crashed the wedding of a family friend by accidentally wandering into the hall. I can imagine how this might prove embarrassing to some people, but my cousin thought it a positive omen and invited her to stay for cake.
